The political climate in Karnataka has been heating up, as the Congress party has accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of using former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa as a “disposable tissue paper.”

The Congress has alleged that the BJP has no respect for Yediyurappa, who was forced to resign as Chief Minister last year. They claim that the BJP is using him as a pawn to win votes in the upcoming by-elections in the state.

“The BJP is treating Yediyurappa like a disposable tissue paper. They use him when they need him and throw him away when they don’t,” said Karnataka Congress chief D.K. Shivakumar.

Yediyurappa had resigned as Chief Minister in July 2021, following weeks of speculation about his future. He had been facing dissent within the party and pressure from the central leadership to step down.

Since his resignation, Yediyurappa has been vocal about his disappointment with the BJP and has hinted at starting his own political party. He has also been critical of the party’s handling of the Covid-19 pandemic in Karnataka.

The BJP has denied the Congress’ allegations and has maintained that Yediyurappa is a respected leader of the party. “Yediyurappa is an important leader of the BJP and has contributed immensely to the party’s growth in Karnataka,” said BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra.

The by-elections in Karnataka are scheduled to take place on April 17, and the BJP is hoping to win a majority of the seats. Yediyurappa, who represents the Shikaripura constituency, has been campaigning vigorously for the party.

It remains to be seen how the by-elections will play out and whether the Congress’ allegations against the BJP will have any impact on the results.
