The deployment of CRPF and BSF personnel follows a series of violent events in Jiribam, where militants killed six members of a Meitei family. The attack triggered protests across the state, leading to further clashes between security forces and demonstrators.

On November 11, armed militants abducted and murdered six members of a Meitei family in Jiribam. As their bodies were discovered, protests broke out across Manipur, demanding justice. During one such protest, 22-year-old Kh Athouba Singh was killed during clashes with security forces, further intensifying the unrest.
The violence in Jiribam quickly spread to other districts, triggering a wave of protests and violent confrontations across the state.
AFSPA and Internet Suspension to Control Violence
To address the situation, the government reimposed the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) in the affected areas. This move grants security forces broader powers to restore order and combat insurgent activities.
The government also extended the internet shutdown in key areas to prevent the spread of misinformation, which has been a key factor in fueling tensions and violence.
